Like all great stories, ours begins with family.
On Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem, back in the 1930s, my grandfather Yaakov Tungbaum opened a small shop for orthopedic shoes under the name “Tungbaum Shoe Salon.”
My grandfather was a man with a dream — and more importantly, the knowledge to make dreams come true.
His dream was to help people improve their quality of life by making walking more comfortable.
Our Story
Our story begins with a simple market stall in the bustling alleys of 1930s Jerusalem.
Yaakov Tungbaum, a shoemaker and grandfather of the family, opened a small shoe store that wasn’t just a place to sell shoes — it was a place built on a deeper vision: the belief that walking comfortably is the foundation for a better quality of life.
With that belief, he devoted himself to creating solutions that allow people to walk better, feel better, and live better.
This dedication to craftsmanship, personal service, and true attentiveness to the customer’s needs was passed down through generations — and continues to guide us to this day.

Our Measurement Method
Avidor uses the most accurate measurement method in the world — exclusive to Avidor. Each pair of shoes is composed slightly differently, and while they may appear identical, our feet will never land the same way inside each pair.
That’s why the more precise the measurement, the better the insole will perform — offering better support, greater comfort, and meeting the highest standards.
The Polymeric Casting Method
This is an American patent exclusive to Avidor.
Known as the STS method, it is considered the most accurate foot measurement system in the world.
Using the polymeric casting technique, a full 3D scan of the foot is performed to ensure maximum precision and accuracy in the fit.
Biomechanical Lab
Led by Professor Moshe Ayalon, our biomechanics lab analyzes how loads and forces impact the body during movement.
Since various forces affect us differently while in motion, we use real-time measurement tools to capture those changes.
For example, existing pressure points on the foot can behave differently once you’re in motion — that’s why we use a high-sensitivity indicator system to detect these shifts. This provides us with additional critical data to create more accurate and customized insoles tailored precisely to your needs.
